Brother Of Ex-VAN HALEN/EXTREME Frontman Releases New Solo CD

January 6, 2005

Boston-based singer/songwriter Greg Cherone — brother of former VAN HALEN/EXTREME frontman Gary Cherone — has just released an independent, self-titled five-song CD featuring material that he describes as "edgy, classic rock."

According to Greg, Gary was heavily involved in the production and sang vocal harmonies on the CD, which also features the Cherones' kid brother, Mark, playing guitar on four of the tracks. Greg's got an anthem in "Birth of Rock 'n' Roll", a swinging, bluesy tale of rejection in "Some Kind of Amnesia", and even an acoustic ballad about a summer vacation spot located in Scituate, Massachusetts, entitled, "A Humarock Song".

Greg Cherone used to front a Boston band called ATUNGA in the early '90s and later became one half of an acoustic duo with John Bettencourt (brother of former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt). Nowadays, Greg is a husband and father raising a family, but he still finds time to write and record original songs.
